The OH-1 is a Japanese military helicopter designed and manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and was the first such aircraft entirely produced in Japan. Commonly known as the 'Ninja', the OH-1 is utilized by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) for a range of missions, including intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, and border patrol.
The OH-1 Ninja's twin-engined design features a tandom cockpit, slim fuselage, and a pair of stub wings with two hardpoints apiece. Loadouts typically include four Type 91 missiles for air-to-air use, and a pair of external fuel tanks for increased range and endurance. A Fenestron-type anti-torque tail rotor rounds off the design, and won the Howard Hughes Award for the design of its hub.
Highly detailed, this 1/72 scale OH-1 Ninja model kit from Aoshima also includes a towing tractor utility vehicle with crewman, and a signalman figure.
