Tackling the Tiger: A Sneak Peek at Takom's New Tiger I Early Big Box Kits
Posted by Andy's Hobby Headquarters Canada on 2025 Mar 27th
Hey hobbyists! We're thrilled to be back with some exciting news and updates—both about our shop and a pair of amazing new kits from Takom.
Big Changes at HQ ?
Before we dive into the plastic, a quick update: we’ve been deep in the process of moving our entire online warehouse into a much larger facility. It's been a massive job, but the expansion is allowing us to build something incredible: a brand-new superstore retail front and YouTube studio. You might already notice the new surroundings—blue screen, green screen wall, the whole works. I’ll be doing a full tour once it’s all finished!
Now Let’s Talk Tanks: Takom’s Tiger I Early Big Box Kits ?
What’s the big buzz? Takom has dropped not one, but TWO new Tiger I Early kits—and they’re bundled together in a massive “Big Box” deal for just $69.99 during pre-order.
What’s in the Box?
Inside this Tiger I Early Big Box, you get:
-
Two highly detailed 1/35 scale Tiger I Early kits
-
A BONUS 1/16 scale Michael Wittmann figure
-
A 1/35 scale Wittmann figure included in the Command Tiger version
-
Tons of options and accessories
Takom didn't hold back—these kits are absolutely packed. Bigger boxes, more sprues, metal barrels, clear vision blocks, and even photo-etched brass details like star antennas and grill guards. Everything you need to build multiple versions of early Tigers with authentic historical accuracy.
Standout Features ?️
-
Torsion bar suspension that’s workable
-
Link-and-length tracks with separate, hollowed-out guide horns for realism
-
Multiple mantlet and turret basket options
-
Early-style tracks, vision ports, stowage bins—even Panzer III bins!
-
Metal 88mm aluminum gun barrel
-
Copper wire tow cables that bend and hold shape
-
Zimmerit texture mantlets included, though not used on these early versions
-
Markings for SO4, Michael Wittmann’s own Tiger, with multiple camo schemes
Andy’s own Tiger build even gets a shoutout in the kit with custom SO4 markings—so yes, you can replicate the very Tiger from Andy’s 1/16 scale build in 1/35!
Assembly & Instruction Rundown ?
The instruction manual is super detailed, showing all the steps for both kits. There’s also a full breakdown of how to assemble the figures and apply markings. Whether you go for snow camouflage or classic tri-tone, the decals give you flexibility.
What’s Next?
With the move nearly complete, we’re revving up the content engine again! Expect build videos, studio tours, a deep dive into our expanded online store (we’ve added over 600 Gundam kits already!), and more.
