The Panzer IV Ausf. G was a significant variant of the Panzer IV medium tank used by Germany during World War II. Introduced in 1942, this model featured notable upgrades over its predecessors, including a more powerful 75mm KwK 40 L/43 gun; this enhancement significantly increased its capability to engage and destroy enemy tanks, making it a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
The Ausf. G retained the general design of earlier models but was equipped with additional armor and the longer barrel, which improved its firepower and range. These modifications allowed the Panzer IV Ausf. G to more effectively counter the newer Soviet tanks encountered on the Eastern Front.
The Panzer IV Ausf. G saw extensive combat throughout various theaters of the war, including significant battles such as the Battle of Kursk in 1943. Its production continued until mid-1943, with around 1,930 units built.
