The 7.5 cm Pak 40 (Panzerabwehrkanone 40) was a German 75 mm anti-tank gun developed in 1939–1941 by Rheinmetall and used during World War II.
Highly effective against most Allied tanks throughout the war. Could also be used for indirect fire against infantry and fortifications. Over 23,000 were manufactured, making it the backbone of German anti-tank defenses. Employed both as a towed gun and in self-propelled anti-tank vehicles like the Marder series.
The Pak 40 posed a serious threat to Allied armored forces, forcing them to develop heavier armor and new tactics. Continued to be used by various countries after the war, the Pak 40 was a potent weapon that played a crucial role in German ground operations during World War II
