The Messerschmitt P.1101 was a German experimental jet fighter aircraft developed towards the end of World War II. Its most notable feature was its variable-sweep wings, allowing for adjustments in wing sweep on the ground. This innovation aimed to optimize performance at different flight speeds. The P.1101 incorporated other advanced features for its time, including a streamlined fuselage and powerful jet engines.

The P.1101's development began in 1944 as part of Germany's desperate search for advanced aircraft to counter Allied air superiority.  The project was led by Willy Messerschmitt, a prominent German aircraft designer. However, due to the deteriorating war situation and limited resources, the P.1101 never reached completion before the end of the war.

Despite not flying during the war, the P.1101 had a significant impact on post-war aviation.  Its variable-sweep wing concept was highly influential, inspiring the development of similar aircraft in the United States, such as the Bell X-5 and later, the F-111.
