The Spitfire Mk.Vb was a key variant of the iconic British Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft used during World War II. Introduced in 1941, it featured a powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine and improved armament, including two 20mm Hispano cannons and four .303 Browning machine guns. These enhancements allowed the Mk.Vb to better compete with German aircraft, particularly the formidable Messerschmitt Bf 109F, in the skies over Europe. It became the most widely produced variant of the Spitfire at the time and served in numerous theatres of war, including the Western Front, Mediterranean, and North Africa.
Many of the pilots who flew the iconic Spitfire for the Royal Air Force were not British; Eduard's 1/48 scale Limited Edition model kit allows you to recreate two different Spitfires flown by the Czechosolovak contingent of the RAF in the 1942-1943 time-frame. Beautifully realised, and equipped with masks and pre-painted PE parts, this set includes a dozen different decal options!
