The Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma was a German armoured reconnaissance vehicle used during World War II, known for its combination of speed, manoeuvrability, and firepower. Part of the Sd.Kfz. 234 series, the Puma featured an eight-wheeled chassis, which gave it excellent off-road capabilities and made it highly versatile in various terrain conditions. Equipped with a 50mm KwK 39/1 L/60 gun, it was one of the most heavily armed reconnaissance vehicles of the war, allowing it to engage both light armour and infantry effectively. The Puma's fully enclosed turret also provided better protection compared to earlier reconnaissance vehicles.
Used primarily by the Wehrmacht in the later years of the war, the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma played a vital role in gathering intelligence and providing support to armoured units. Its speed allowed it to perform hit-and-run tactics and avoid heavier enemy forces while still maintaining battlefield presence. Despite its effectiveness, only a limited number were produced due to Germany's strained wartime production capabilities. Nevertheless, the Puma is remembered as one of the most advanced and capable armoured cars of the conflict.
