The de Havilland Vampire was the second jet fighter to enter service with the RAF (the first being the Meteor), and the first single-engined fighter. It was also the first jet aircraft to cross the Atlantic.
Vampires entered service in 1946, mere months after the end of the second world war; by the mid-fifties the type was being overtaken for frontline service by more advanced aircraft, and found a new lease of life as a trainer.
This much-anticipated 1/48 scale model kit, designed in Sweden by Pilot Replicas, shows the T11 training variant of the vampire, as it appeared in RAF service.
