The Sd.Kfz 234 series was a family of German eight-wheeled armoured cars featuring designs that incorporated the lessons learned during the early stages of World War II. Perhaps the most well-known was the Sd.Kfz 234/2 Puma, which included a 50 mm KwK 39 L/60 gun, mounted in a fully enclosed turret (originally designed for the VK 16.02 Leopard light tank).
The Sd.Kfz 234/2 Puma was a lightly armoured, and highly mobile design; the 50 mm gun provided respectable anti-armour firepower, although the Puma would eventually be replaced in production with a more lightly armed variant with a 20 mm cannon. Mobility was enhanced by having as many reverse gears as forward, and with a second rear-facing driver's position.
Ryefield Model's 1/35 scale Sd.Kfz 234/2 Puma model kit provides an exceptional level of detail, and features photo-etched parts, a detailed engine, alternative muzzle options, and a breach for the main gun. The wheels can be angled to your taste. Nicely detailed exterior equipment is also included, including the 'star' aerial that denotes a vehicle with the longer-ranged radio set.
