The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a German light armoured half-track used during World War II, primarily by the Wehrmacht for reconnaissance and personnel transport. Introduced in 1941, it was a smaller version of the Sd.Kfz. 251, featuring a shorter chassis but maintaining similar off-road capabilities. The vehicle's design allowed it to carry a small crew and a few passengers while providing protection from small arms fire and shrapnel. It was powered by a 6-cylinder Maybach engine, giving it decent mobility across rough terrains.

The Sd.Kfz. 250 came in various configurations, including command vehicles, radio units, and support roles like anti-tank or artillery reconnaissance. Its versatility made it valuable for frontline reconnaissance missions and as a support vehicle for infantry units. Throughout the war, the Sd.Kfz. 250 saw widespread use on both the Eastern and Western fronts, contributing to the overall mobility and flexibility of German forces.

This latest 'Box' set from Takom contains two versions of the Sd.Kfz. 250 (both in 1/35 scale): the Sd.Kfz. 250/1 (the standard troop transport variant), and Rommel's Sd.Kfz. 250/3 "Greif" command variant (rather gloriously, Funkpanzerwagen in German!), complete with the distinctive aerials. Besides these beautifully detailed model kits, a 1/16 scale figure of the Desert Fox himself is also included.
